Awards

As featured each year, several awards and sponsored prizes will be presented for best papers and outstanding contributions to the EIBA Annual Conference as well as to the IB community. Winners of the following awards & prizes (among others) will be announced and presented at the EIBA 2021 Madrid Conference:

DANNY VAN DEN BULCKE BEST PAPER PRIZE

For the best International Business paper presented at the conference – regardless of the age(s) of the author(s).

The winners each receive a certificate, and the award-winning paper is granted a money prize of €1,000.

EIBA BEST DOCTORAL THESIS PROPOSAL IN INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS AWARD

For the best doctoral thesis proposal in International Business presented at the John H. Dunning Doctoral Tutorial.

The winner receives a certificate and a €1,000 money prize.

SSE GUNNAR HEDLUND AWARD

For the best PhD thesis in the field of International Business (completed within the time frame of 1 July 2018 – 30 June 2021).

The award is administered by the Stockholm School of Economics (SEE).

The winner receives a medal, a certificate and a €10.000 money prize.

COPENHAGEN BUSINESS SCHOOL PRIZE

For the best International Business paper presented at the conference written by an author or authors under 40 years of age.

The award is administered by the Copenhagen Business School (CBS).

Winners can either choose to receive the prize in cash (€3,000 money prize but with a 50% Danish tax deduction) or (in non-taxable funds) as reimbursement of travel and accommodation expenses in connection to a research stay at one of the three CBS sponsoring Departments: Department of International Economics, Governance and Business (EGB), Department of Management, Society and Communication (MSC), and Department of Strategy and Innovation (SI).

IBR BEST JOURNAL PAPER OF THE YEAR AWARD

For the best IBR article published in the previous year’s volume.

The award is administered by The International Business Review (IBR) –published by Elsevier.

The winners each receive a certificate, and the award-winning article is granted a money prize of €1,000.

GSJ GLOBAL STRATEGY RESEARCH PRIZE

For the best paper relating to the topic of “Global Strategy” presented at the conference.
The award is administered by The Global Strategy Journal (GSJ) –published by The Strategic Management Society (SMS).
The winners each receive a certificate, and the award-winning paper is granted a money prize of €500.

LAZARIDIS INSTITUTE BEST PAPER AWARD FOR INTERNATIONAL ENTREPRENEURSHIP

For the best paper relating to the topic of “International Entrepreneurship and SMEs” presented at the conference.

The award is administered by the Lazaridis Institute for the Management of Technology Enterprises.

EIBA BEST REVIEWER AWARD

For the best Reviewer of the conference -who generously donates time and energy to read through papers and provides constructive comments to authors of EIBA Annual Conference submissions.

The winner receives a certificate.

EIBA DISTINGUISHED HONORARY FELLOWSHIP AWARD

The EIBA Fellows recognize notable figures in the International Business world.

The selected recipients have distinguished themselves in one or more of the four functions or categories listed below:

  • Deans of schools (or those in other similar posts) who have made a substantial contribution to the development of International Business studies
  • Business leaders
  • Distinguished scholars who have by their writing and work considerably influenced the thinking of IB researchers and practitioners in the field
  • Leading figures (or those formerly having played notable roles) in international public and non-governmental organisations

The ideal candidate for this award is someone who has worked on European or related business issues, but who is not necessarily an EIBA member or resident of the country in which EIBA is holding its Annual Conference.

The winner receives a ceremonial plaque.
